The Corps of Engineers-Chicago District issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Wastewater Treatment Plant Demolition Project; Site location: Portage, Indiana. The work will consist of removing all man-made items from the site except those, such as the sheet pile wall, which are used for erosion control and channel stabilization. The contractor will be responsible for removing and disposing of the entire treatment plant, steel and concrete buildings, concrete tanks, pumps, process equipment, buried and above ground pipes, electrical equipment, asbestos containing materials, non-asbestos pipe insulation, vaults, outfall pipe and headwall, fencing, and miscellaneous metal debris will be removed from the land and disposed of in a proper manner. The contractor will be responsible for any excavating after the demolition work is completed and backfilling with beach sand that will also include the site to be “sprigged” with native grasses. The contractor will also be responsible for the following: removal of a steel pipe bridge, which spans Burns Ditch to carry utility lines from the mill site to the treatment plant site, removal of the pipes and bridge and the removal of piers supporting the bridge. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 238910. This procurement is UNRESTRICED TO BUSINESS SIZE.
