Repair Port Allen Shed, Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii
The work is located at Pacific Missile Range Facility, Port Allen Shed on Kauai, Hawaii, which is located on a pier. The scope of work is to renovate the Port Allen Shed by providing a new office space and air conditioning to specified areas, as well as upgrading the mechanical systems in the Marine Shop to be in compliant with applicable safety and health codes. The architectural work includes demolition and replacement of wood stud walls that exhibits termite damage. It also includes removal of metal sliding doors, plaster walls, double hung windows, ceilings to include existing gypsum board, stretched canvas, wood grid, mesh ceilings and vinyl flooring, removal and replacement of bathroom accessories, new stud walls, installation of new vinyl composition floor tile, standard and moisture resistant suspended acoustical ceiling, new wood double-hung windows, new metal lockers, cabinetry work and installation of metal double doors. The mechanical work includes removal, replacement and installation of new plumbing fixtures, installation of packaged room-top air conditioning systems and associated ductwork and accessories, including installation of bathroom fume hood and welding exhaust ventilation systems. The electrical work includes renovation of interior electrical, lighting and telecommunication infrastructure within the office, restroom and shop areas, support for new air conditioning and ventilation equipment and new lighting for all areas. Handling of hazardous materials that will be required during the project includes removal and disposal of asbestos containing window caulking, PCB containing light fixture ballasts, mercury lamps and asbestos containing floor tiles as well as handling of asbestos containing corrugated paneling disturbed by mechanical installations or roof repair and the removal and handling of architectural components painted with lead containing paint.
