Sealed bids will be received at Northern Environmental’s Houghton office located at 815 Shelden Avenue, Houghton, Michigan 49931. Bids will be received until Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. (local time). All bids will be held sealed until they are opened and publicly read aloud on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. (local time) at City Hall in Iron River.

The Central School Building Site includes a 2 story brick school building built in early 1900’s with full basement and attic measuring approximately 15,500 square feet per floor and a one story brick boiler house with stack. The work will consist of pre-demolition abatement of asbestos and lead paint throughout buildings, removal and disposal of potentially 2-10,000 gallon UST’s, complete demolition of boiler house, clean-up of existing school building with alternate for complete demolition and removal of both buildings on-site. Approximate quantities for abatement can be found in the bid documents.

The bid documents may be examined at Northern Environmental Technologies, 815 Shelden Avenue, Houghton, Michigan 49931 during regular business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (local time). Copies may be obtained for a non-refundable fee of $30.00.

A mandatory Pre-Bid meeting and site walk through to answer any questions related to the work or contract documents will be held on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. (local time) at City Hall in Iron River, Michigan. Following the administrative portion of the meeting, all participants will proceed to the Central School Site for walk through. Contractors must attend the Pre-Bid meeting to be eligible to bid on the project.
