Default New Metabo 1/2" Hammer Drill

Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced a new tool to its full line of hammer drills. The SBE 660 1/2" hammer drill is ideal for heavy duty applications, including drilling holes in concrete block, brick, solid concrete for anchors, electrical and plumbing through holes, and pilot holes for concrete screws. In addition, the SBE 660 is also useful for driving concrete screws, drilling into steel and wood, and driving self-tapping screws into metal and wood.

With a maximum tightening torque of 142 inch-lbs., the new SBE 660 offers 5/8" capacity in concrete, 1/2" capacity in mild steel and 1-3/16" capacity in softwood. Equipped with Metabo's "goose neck" depth gauge, the SBE 660 allows maximum drilling depth accuracy by enabling the gauge tip to be positioned extremely close to the drill bit.

Safety features incorporated into the SBE 660 hammer drill include Metabo's proprietary S-automatic safety clutch for protection against tool kick back from tool jams, and double insulation that significantly reduces the chance of electric shock. The side handle ergonomically designed to counteract the torque of the tool when drilling into hard materials. It gives the operator greater control of the tool to drill straighter, rounder holes and can be rotated 360° for the best position for the job.

The SBE 660 also includes other unique Metabo features, such as a long lasting motor with an epoxy resin-coated field coil free of air inclusions, which helps prevent overheating under heavy loads. A winding protection grid that deflects airborne debris away from the armature windings increases the motor's life up to five times that of tools without such protection. Variospeed full-wave electronic speed control allows for infinite speed variations, while reducing tool speed as the load increases.

Rated at 5.8 amps, with an input rating of 660 watts, the hammer drill offers a no-load speed of 0-1,000/0-3,000 rpm and 0-57,000 no-load blows per minute. The SBE 660 is 13" long, weighs only 5.9 lbs and comes with a 1/2" chuck and carrying case.
