Default Heavy-Duty Demolition Hammers help reduce worker fatigue

DeWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, today announces the launch of its new heavy-duty demolition hammers (D25899K, D25901K, D25941K). These new demolition hammers are designed to provide end users with increased durability, performance, comfort, and serviceability on the jobsite. Available in February 2008, the demolition hammers are ideal for electricians, plumbers, concrete contractors, waterproofers, demolition crews, public utilities workers, and general contractors. Additionally, they are designed to perform a wide range of heavy-duty concrete removal applications in the most demanding commercial construction environments.

Durability

DeWALT equipped the new demolition hammers with spring-loaded dust seals that keep ingress and contaminants from entering the tool, helping to extend the tool's life. A non-air pumping beat piece keeps debris from being vacuumed into the hammer mechanism, preventing contamination of its internal components, also leading to longer tool life.

Performance

DeWALT designed the D25901K and the D25941K with a comprehensive electronics package that provides users with the ability to start the tool softly on contact and maintain optimum performance under load throughout any rigorous demolition application. The D25901K also comes equipped with a variable impact control dial (19 settings) that allows the user to match the performance of the tool to the specific application and control the rate of aggregate removal. This new line of demolition hammers is engineered with high-performance, 14 and 15 amp motors. The D25899K and D25901K generate 18.5 ft. lbs of impact energy, which provides an 18 percent higher removal rate than its leading competitor, while the D25941K offers 22 ft. lbs of impact energy.

Comfort and Vibration

After conducting a thorough research study of demolition hammer end users, DEWALT found that 85 percent of demolition hammer users prefer the in-line tool design over the traditional L-shape design. In order to meet this end-user jobsite preference, DEWALT built its demolition hammers with the recommended in-line design.

Demolition hammers are some of the most fatiguing tools to operate due to the high level of vibration that they generate. High levels of vibration absorbed by users result in a decrease in work productivity as tool operators need to take frequent rests from use of the tool. DEWALT created a patented system that reduces the high vibration output of demo hammers, resulting in greater comfort and increased productivity. To reduce vibration and give the user the most comfortable removal experience possible, DeWALT added its patent-pending SHOCKS - Active Vibration Control system to the D25901K and D25941K hammers. The SHOCKS - Active Vibration Control combines shock mounted floating handles with a counter balance mechanism located in the barrel of the tool, decreasing user fatigue and increasing productivity.

For increased ease of use, a one-step, twelve-position chisel rotation allows the user to reposition a chisel's angle into twelve different orientations using one hand. The side handle rotates 360° around the tool and has a 150° lateral adjustment providing flexible options for handle configuration. Additionally, a large rocker switch and rear rubber handles provide users with improved operation and comfort.

Warranty

Demolition hammers are hard hitting tools that endure a high level of jobsite abuse and are susceptible to frequent servicing. As a result, DEWALT provides a two-year service warranty on the D25901K and D25941K and a one-year service warranty on the D25899K.
