Default New Electronic Control System for Demolition Excavators

Ever mindful of the need to continually address operational and performance safety, Liebherr has developed a new control system for their range of demolition excavators. The Liebherr Demolition Control (LDC) - a feature only available from Liebherr - is being integrated on all C Series demolition excavators.

In essence, LDC ensures optimum operational safety through 360º. This is accomplished by the automatic control, monitoring and limitation of tool movements and machine tilt, so that the stability of the excavator and safe working conditions can be ensured during the working cycle. The system consists of a control unit, in-cab diode indicator, three angle transmitters for monitoring attachment position and an inclinator for overseeing the carrier machine's stability and level.

The sensors on the angle transmitters for the attachment convey the current position and calculate relevant safety information. Limitation of movements is related solely to any decrease in stability. The inclinator shows whether the excavator is on even ground (+/-5º) and, if not, the diode indicator warns the operator so that the appropriate action can be taken. The inclinator does not interfere with the LDC system so that inconvenient or abrupt shutdown of the machine is avoided.

LDC provides two operational modes. The ‘limited reach' mode restricts attachment movements; when using ‘monitored reach', the attachment movements are monitored but not restricted.
