Interesting article.
What's telling is the Chinese scrap guy saying, in essence, "Who cares about the Americans ? They don't have any heavy manufacturing anymore and they have to get rid of their scrap ."
I guess they only big users of scrap in AMerica are the mini mills and they are about ready for a bailout themselves.
Very interesting article indeed, Thanks for sharing.
the scrap prices are quite scrapped at the moment... even b-class copper is worthless
at the moment we pile up metall from our demolition sites on our yard, in hope of higher prices in the near future.
wonder how many demo contractors have made big losses because of the radical price dropp? in the worst case some contractor will go bankrupt because of relying to much on the resale value of scrap, the guys with well made contract papers will walk out fine.
heck i hope folks thought some thing was up when tin/sheet metal was worth a few hundred dollars a short ton and they were buying #2 copper at the #1 price
what prices are you getting for plate and structural steel and no.1 lately?
Can only say peddler price for the Mid Michigan region, $105 a ton for 2x4
wondering what the plate and structural scrap is going for per ton on the west coast
