$8,800 per ton. It's predicted to go over $10,000 per tone.

Here in CA theives are stealing the runs between streetlites on the freeway. Also a signal lite contractor has had the wires to the new signals they're installing stolen 3 times.
At what point is a security guard cheaper then all the copper and labor?

Around here they are stealing the runs along seldom used or abandoned railroad tracks in semi rural locations. The thieves can put long runs of copper on the ground and nobody is around to see them.

Just the other day a bunch of thieves broke into transfer substation and cleaned it out completely.

And you know if one them were killed, they would be suing the city for not protecting the area.
