there are companies out there that will buy used electrical equipment

Im glad you guys know that. I work for an electrical distributor in the bay area. I buy electrical equipment like transformers, panel boards, circuit breakers, and motor control. Most jobs I go to and talk to the demo crew they tell me that they trash the electrical!! I was shocked to hear that. We are considering starting up a small demo company so we can get a better handle on the used electrical equipment out there. Any thoughts? Any demo companies that come across this and trash it? if so, why? What would motivate you to keep it?

There are a couple of companies that will come in and remove the main electrical panels and the like, but most of the time some of the stuff is out dated.

But the other thing is, isn't it harder to get stuff re-certified to use in another project?

Most companies will either trash it or recycle it. One of the reasons that we don't keep the stuff is that we don't have the yards or reasons to keep it store in the hopes of reselling it and then after a little while you end of trashing it anyway.
