Default Need Assistance. Thanks.

We are putting in a bid on removing 250,000 sq ft of suspended ceiling tile out of a warehouse. Is there any market for this material to be recycled.

Yes, Armstrong will take your tiles free of charge truckload size. If it is less than truckload you will have to negotiate shipping charges with them. All the tiles have to be shrink wrapped and palletized. (6' high).

This might help you too:

1 pallet holds 1400-1700 sf of tile

1 CY of rolloff holds 200 sf of tile (30 CY holds 6 to 7,000 SF)

It takes 1.3 man hours to palletize 1,000 SF

It takes 1.2 man hours to dump 1,000 sf using a cart and a dumpster located at a loading dock in the building

Don't they take back Armstrong brand tiles only? I thought I remember looking at doing a large project and they stated they would only take back their own brand.

They will take any brand. I think originally they tried to only take their own but they needed the economy of scale to make their recycling effort work.

Armstrong will take anyones tiles. I spoke to someone a few months ago when putting a bid in for 55,000 sq feet. They require someone to come out and make sure its a tile they will take and be able to recycle so contact them first. They told me a trailer will hold almost 45,000 sq feet if I remember.

Nukeworker,

Thanks for the heads up on making the job easier to handle.

We placed the bid on Friday so we'll find out something this week.
