Default WRAP Seeks Expertise from Contractors

The Waste & Resources Action Programme has announced a tender inviting contractors to become part of a Construction Support Framework.

Consultants are required to work with construction businesses in developing and using the appropriate outputs from WRAP’s Construction Programme. The aim is to build confidence in and provide practical help for the setting of requirements for waste minimization and management, materials recycling and/or recycled content in construction projects.

The framework will be in addition to the existing procurement Framework and offers potential and existing contractors the scope to offer a broader range of services in line with four key areas:

• General support to WRAP and its construction audiences
• Development of a robust evidence base from which clients can easily and confidently base decisions on materials resource efficiency (including recovery and recycling)
• Development of achievable and practical project-based construction requirements and targets
• Advocacy and training to WRAP’s construction audiences

Mervyn Jones, program manager for WRAP’s Construction team explains: "We are not expecting contractors to necessarily deliver on all these services; they should focus on areas or combinations of services that offer strong expertise to WRAP and our audiences."

The full tender invitation is available to download from www.wrap.org.uk or by emailing lucy.keal@wrap.org.uk. The Framework will commence by 01st March 2007 and continue through to 31st March 2010. The deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 12.30 pm, 22nd December, 2006.
