Default Anyone here into social networking?

I'm active on all of the major social networking sites - Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. - and am wondering if others here are into them as well? Which ones are the best ones to connect with other people who might also be interested ind demolition / construction topics?

I have a listing on LinkedIN and have kept that strictly for business connections with limited success.. These forums provide enough 'social' networking for what I have the time or the patience for.

I use LinkedIN for business and my wife talked me into a Facebook page for personal stuff. I never check on either one much though.

I personally think that ANY form of networking is better than none. I use facebook, linkedin, and some others... I have gotten a few jobs from FB, I would definitely use these free services to your advantage............. BRANDING, ladies and Gentlemen, get your name in front of as many people as possible, until they get sick of seeing it. I stopped concentrating on marketing for a little while and it hurt bad... never stop selling....always be closing...............

    You are absolutely right!!
If I didn't have something on FB I never would have met you Nitrox...
Not only that and this a personal unabashed plug here... YOUTUBE!!!!!
Perhaps the best FREE marketing there is out there.
I have gotten 4 well paying clients in the last 3 months just from people seeing my youtube videos. Even have something in the works over seas.
The net is an invaluable (free) tool to market yourselves. If you don't have at least a BlackBerry to keep in touch with your clients, as well as your office, when you are in the field, then you are missing out.

I absolutely agree! You never know who and what is out there. I have never really had any luck using LinkedIn, but have had great luck with Facebook and Twitter.

What a variety of responses here! I definitely hear the point about having only a limited amount of times and find it interesting that for some people networking on forums like this are sufficient. However, I'm more interested by people who are saying they've gotten jobs through these social networking sites. I know that they're good for getting to know people in the industry but I hadn't realized that they were actually leading to work for some people. Great stuff. Thanks for all of your answers!

I have had success with Facebook and Myspace, nothing with LinkedIn.
