I switched my office telephones over to VOIP and it saves me close to $500 per month. Actually, since a lot of my work is overseas now it will probably save me even more. They threw in a combo mouse/telephone. You use it like you would any mouse and when it rings it flips open and you talk into it.
It works well when travelling because your phone number travels with you. All you need is an internet connection or hotspot and your in business.
What company did you go with? I had a friend switched to Vonage and it lasted about a month. He couldn't hear the other party and had nothing but problems. Vonage tried to help but he ended up dumping it after a couple of months.
I have heard good things about them. Keep us up to date. I was looking around for a VOIP provider awhile back ago and I just wanted to wait and see on how it was all going to pan out. Do you have the 911 "access"? I know all the VOIP were trying to get this service.
I've got 911 access. If you call 911 it is supposed to be able to pinpoint your exact location. The mouse phone takes a bit to get used to. When people see you talking into your mouse they tend to get a little worried
