Default Ever look-up/background check your potential client?

Do you ever perform a background check on a potential client? Or do a search on the net?

I've done a D&B search before, but that's the extent of it.

I have found the best way to get info is to call associates, friends, or relatives that work for other subs, rental companies, and haulers. More importantly, than a D&B, which by the way is a great idea, it will give you some insight into the intricacies of a firm: how their supers act, how much paperwork it takes to get paid, how quickly they process change orders...

We frequently use Experian's intelliscore service. Which basically tells us what kind of credit they have. It factors alot different information such as liens, credit limits, and whether they've had judgements against them. I have no idea exactly how it works but it gives 1-100 score for each business. I think each report costs about $20.00.
