Weve had yellow page ads in years past , and found that we were getting to many calls from out of our area. Were mostly bidding work now , but still advertise in local papers to pick up any work that is close and easy.
I used to work for a company that ran them all the time, but they didn't have a good way of tracking where the phone calls were coming from. So to me it was just worthless.
I used to run ads for both demolition and dumpster rental. The demolition ads produced next to no results. All demo work is bid or referral. As for dumpster rental, I would get alot of "tire-kickers"; People calling everyone in the book looking for the lowest price. Needless to say I stopped all Yellow Book advertising. In addition, it has become way over priced.
