Cool competetion

Has anyone ever faced this problem and how do you compete? I brought one of my trucks in for some work. Just so happens that owner of shop has a son that does demo. The old man asked me were do I dump my debris I commenced to telling him about one of the local state regulated land-fields. And that is when he told me that they are Not paying them fees that they burn most of there debris at his shop. Which by the way is in city limits, but he gets away with it. Now I am not a rat but how can you compete when they are not paying dump fee's?? It makes it tough to stay legal!

I suggest minding your business and realize what goes around , comes around. Sooner or later the party is over and it becomes evident that it was cheaper to pay and run legal. Also, you now have a slight advantage knowing what their dumping fees are really costing them. Be smart and use the information to your advantage. Lastly, either the guy is just bullshitting you or he is probing to see if you illegally dump.

I also agree for the most part.

I would make sure that he is running legally, is he licensed with the proper governing boards etc.

I also think it will catch up with him sooner or later. Unfortunately there are so many fly by night operations running out there, most of the time it does catch up with them. What will happen is he will bid that one job that requires all dump tickets to be turned in to get paid and he won’t have any to turn in.

Now if we are talking hazardous materials, well that is a whole different ballgame.
