Sorry for the delay, I have been horribly sick and I just can’t seem to shake this illness, it is getting frustrating.
Anyway, I personally never had experiences using any software program designed for excavating so I can’t comment on any of them.
I think it’s best to get as many demo discs from different companies and see if their software is what you’re looking for. You may find one suit your needs in one area and another may suit something else.
Just like the estimating, you may be better off building something yourself, maybe using the demo discs as a “template”.
Let is know if you need anything else and again sorry about the delay.
I have noticed many of these software companies want an arm and a leg and don't offer a demo disc. Roctek for one, will only do a net meeting, we have one set up for next week. I looked at the screen shots, and to be honest, It looks overwhelming to me. I will let you know how it goes.
Well that is why I say get as many demo disk as you can, to me if companies do not give out demo disk or have free trials on their site I would move on. Why should you pay 3K-10K for a system that you can't even try out first. It would be like buying a car and not test driving it first.
I think the other thing you have to be concerned with is it something that you will be using all the time? Or is it something to use occasionally?
This has been a crazy week, for being a short one. We have decided to not to go with the software after all. Just doesn't seem to be worth the money right now, we are looking at calculators instead, I found one that will be able to work for us, of course, I left the info at the office. Seems to be pretty good for 70 bucks.
