Question Demo of 2 story concrete reinf. bldg

Just starting demo job with lots of abatement work. Finished abatement removals and starting demo on first building. Spec said demo to go from roof down. A hole was knocked into the wall with a large backhoe to get a bobcat in to remove some non-bearing partitions, ruble etc. on the first floor while some removals going on on the roof. Some of the engineers are claim this is against the spec to "not disturb supporting members" on lower levels.. I don't necessarily agree.

Any opinions out there?

I am not following you, are you saying you have to leave the first floor intact? If not, as wrecknall stated why aren't you just using an excavator to take in down?
