hey guys, I have about 3500 sf of 1 inch ceramic tile and an olympic size swimming pool that needs to be stripped of the tile. I was going to rent a ride on tile stripper, but never used one before. Any have any suggestions? The job needs to be done in 10 days.
well, i started today and it's weird, the floor tile breaks easily but the is about 3 inches of sandy material underneath, then the slab. would the ride on machine work?
I have used the Terminator machine before on ceramic tile with a mud bed. It should work if the sandy mud bed is brittle and bonds well to itself. If it is really sandy and doesnt bond well to itself it may be tough to do with the machine becuase it will just rip stips in the mud bed. I would suggest giving the machine a shot and if it doesnt work get a fleet of chipping hammers.
Well, we got alot of the floor up with bosch brute hammers, but now is the really crazy part. We have to remove all of the pool wall tile, which is embedded in mesh and it's like iron. I have tried a bosch rotary hammer, a 30 lb chipping hammer, and air chisel, and they are all inconsistent. They all gouge too deep. The brilliant architects feel that the tile can come off and leave a smooth surface. I have thought about grinding the tiles of the wall,or hydroblasting them. Please keep in mind that it is an olympic size pool and i want to finish in 5 days. please someone help me out with this!!!!!!!!!!

try to find someone with a BROKK demolition robot to do it for you, a 90 size will do fine! 40 or 50 has quite short reach so it can slow down thing a little.
2 brokk 90 with experienced operators will easily do the jobb in time!
use wide chiesels and turn down the hammer power, then it doesnt break the concrete structure.
a other solution would be to mount a surface cutter on a BROKK 330 or 180, that would probabbly be 2-3 times faster than the hammer solution.
doing it by hand can be quite a task! you need a army of guys with handheld hammers to do it in time!
