Default Diesel prices...How are you adjusting?

Diesel just hit $3.79 up here.

$50.00 gets you just about 13 gallons. Are you starting to feel the pinch?

Being a small trucking company.....I feel it everyday ($400-$500 a day). I'm going to send a letter out to all of my customers this month and let them know that within the next couple weeks, they will notice an increase in my hauling and disposal rates due to swift rising fuel costs!!!

Dang, I am almost paying that in gas, gas just hit $3.14 yesterday, so by tonight it will be 3.16-3.18. It has been going up at least .02 a gallon a day.

On road diesel is $3.39-3.50 per gallon depending on the station. Which brings the question why there is an $.11 difference in fuel prices in the same city!

Most of the fuel burned on my operation is off-road. What I have been considering is backing the fuel costs out of the O/O cost of the machine(s) for the job and adding fuel as "cost-plus". I don't know how this would fly - an thoughts?

I think just issuing a fuel surcharge would be easier to get across, although it may depend on the specific client. I think most people are used to seeing the occaisional surcharge these days.

Yes, it's almost becoming an industry standard to send out notices. Most companies are understanding and they are most likely sending them to their own clients also.

Whatever you do make it a "gentle" surcharge, don't gouge. You could even call around and see what others are getting away with.
