At this time we are sending out notices to all of our customers that we are increasing our prices by 7% due to the rising fuel costs along with the cost of labor, and insurance.
not to bring up an old topic but how is everyone handling fuel prices now?My dad is complaining about regular fuel prices but diesel is unreal right now.
Road diesel is at 4.19 here and off road is high three to four depending on the vendor. I am planning on adding a fuel surcharge in the next week. I hate to do it but at this rate it is inevitable.
Around here, Road diesel is $4.54 down the street and I have seen as high as $4.65.
I think that is all you can do, is add a fuel surcharge. I like what the City of Seattle has done around for the taxi companies and it may be good to do the same for your own company and let the vendors know.
The city has built into the contract with the taxi companies, that when gas prices hits a certain average they can add a surcharge fee, then if fuel hits another average, it increases again and again.
This will let your vendors know that for every, say like for every .50 or whatever the surcharge will be X amount.
Well I paid $4.49 yesterday for on-road and was mad, but $5.15 per gallon puts that into perspective.
How many folks have changed their Memorial Day plans due to gas prices?
Me and the wife were going to Orange Beach down on the gulf for the weekend (about a 4.5 hour drive one way) but decided to stay home more to protest the $.30/gallon increase in a week on fuel right before a national holiday. I know that our little protest won't effect anything but maybe more folks across the country will do the same.
