Hello everyone- This forum sounds like a great idea to exchange information about different methods or ideas . I am a small excavation and demolition contractor in Maine . A majority of our demo jobs are houses, barns, mobile homes, and concrete removal. Heres a pic of a house we tore down last winter all by hand becuase the general contractor wanted to save the junk foundation . Only when it was all down did he decide for us to take it out and install a new one.

Welcome Digdug! I actually enjoy the forum because it is appropriately moderated.
You'll find a great array of professionals who will help you but not give trade secrets.
demobud,
I shot the Days Inn where you are. Enron was just finished across the street. There was a historic hotel across the street and the Public Library on the other side. I did it for ol' Harold Hudgins. Great area. I have a good friend at Birmingham Powder, Steve Winsor.
I remember Harold, one of my ex-coworkers at DH Griffin worked for Hudgins for many years. I wasn't able to make it to Harold's funeral though, I'll always regret that.
I watched that shot in Bham. That was the old Essex House right across the street from the Tutwiler Hotel. I was working with Steve Pettigrew at the time and we had bid on that job with Levy Wrecking from out of Nashville. I watched the shot from a lawyer friends office. We had a great view from above the top of the episcopal church. It was nicely done shot. I do remember you had to cover the new facade of the Library; man that must have been a cause for concern!
