Default Power Plant Demolition

It's not too often you get the chance to demolish a brand new one.

I love the one guys quote: "They just ignored us and acted like we're a bunch hillbillies or something," said Gerard Eftink.

Well sir you do live in Peculiar, MO

Just spark a memory, I remember hearing a story from Herb Duane a couple years ago about him looking at putting together a budget to tear down a power plant. Well when he got to the site it was all new construction and he asked the contractor where the plant to be torn down is and the guy states its right here. He goes on about the power plant has a life of approx 50 years and they wanted for Herb to put together this package for them, included in this package he was to make a bidders list and Herb’s comment was that all the demo guys he knows won’t be around then.

Cool That's rich!

I always have ambivalent feelings when new construction has to go. One one hand its a terrible waste of resources but on the other hand work is work!

I remember doing a project for a power company that was in a similar vein. I had to demo new nuclear "engines" that had lain in a field for 15 years because the plant never got expanded past the first construction phase.

And we wonder why our utility bills are so high!
