Default Technical Glitch Delays Implosion of Cotton Mill Square Smokestack

At 3:30 p.m. Sunday, several horns sounded to signal the impending implosion of the smokestack at the historic Cotton Mill Square plant. But instead of the roar of falling bricks, spectators heard only the sound of silence.

A gas that was supposed to expand and help bring down the structure escaped instead.

Crews will try again -- this time using explosives -- in the next couple of days.

Since when does rain stop an implosion? I thought they liked it when it rains because it keeps the dust down.
