What a horrible story. They still haven't been able to retrieve the body. The job was being done by Iconco/LVI but they hired a lot of local neighborhood laborers, so it could have been one of them too.

Luis Gonzalez of Ceres was crushed under steel beams and debris Monday as he and other workers tore down a boiler building at the southeast corner of the former Pacific Gas and Electric Co. plant at 1100 Evans Ave.

Gonzalez worked for the demolition contractor Iconco/LVI Demolition Services for 16 years and was a driver of heavy machinery, said his sister Maria Cepeda of Oakland.

He was married and had four children, ages 4, 8, 15 and 17, Cepeda said, her voice breaking with emotion. She said he was a good brother and a good father.
