Judge tentatively blocks demolition of old mansion owned by Steve Jobs
WOODSIDE, Calif. The head of Apple Computer is having a hard time getting a mansion in Woodside he owns torn down.
A San Mateo County Superior Court judge has tentatively ruled that Woodside officials improperly granted Steve Jobs a demolition permit last year to tear down the home known as "The Jackling House."
Jobs bought the 17,000 square foot mansion in 1984, but hasn't lived in it for more than ten years.
He wants to build a new, smaller home on the property that he says would be more suitable for his family.
But preservationists want the mansion saved because they consider it a historic treasure.
Jobs' attorney says he'll probably appeal the decision.
