Old bridge and operator fall during demolition
A backhoe and its operator fell when part of an unused bridge that was being demolished in central Kentucky collapsed yesterday.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Department of Highways spokeswoman Andrea Clifford says the department was demolishing the old bridge and plans to replace it by next month.
The bridge at U.S. 60 crosses Floyds Fork just east of Louisville, near Valhalla Golf Club.
The highway will have four lanes when the replacement bridge opens. The bridge being used now has two lanes.
According the department's plans, the bridge replacement is expected to cost $5 million
