Demolition Begins On Fatal Fire Building
A mid-rise building in Houston, TX, where three people lost their lives in a fire began being demolished last Saturday.
Jeanette Hargrove, 52, Marvin Wells Sr., 46, and Shana Ellis, 38, were killed in the fire at 9343 North Loop East on March 28.
Some area residents were shocked to see it go so soon.
"I'm surprised," Nick Halle said. "I had no idea that was the plan."
Misty Weaver, 34, has been charged with arson and murder in connection with the fire.
Investigators said Weaver confessed, saying that she feared she would lose her job for not completing an accreditation audit before the deadline.
Jose Estrada is glad to see the building go.
"It has not only been an eye sore, but it has attracted wrong doers," he said. "They steal copper from there and it's dangerous."
Attorneys for the victims knew that the building was going to be demolished this month. For the past few months, they have been going inside the building and collecting evidence for their cases.
