Default Berlin New Hampshire stack demo

I didnt get to the 9:00am blast time saturday. But when i came home from camp i found these on "You tube videos". It appears on multiple videos that the first two stacks came down good and the third stack didnt topple even after two blasts. Havent found the video that shows the third stack coming down. Did anyone hear about this? Here is one of the videos. doug

I just saw a news story that said the third fell later, injuring several people -- and a You Tube video description said it fell about 15 minutes after the second stack. Here's a summary of the AP story:

"The demolition of three smokestacks at Berlin's former pulp mill was meant to be a spectacle, but the big event went awry when flying debris injured seven people, none seriously.

"The demolition Saturday drew thousands of spectators to witness the end of the era when pulp mill smokestacks ruled Berlin's skyline.

"The first two smokestacks came down without a hitch. The injuries occurred after explosives failed to topple the last of the three stacks and workers used to a cutting torch to loosen its foundation before it finally came down (the wrong direction, according to a witness that posted on You Tube).

"Seven people were treated at a hospital for cuts and bruises; one of them, 52-year-old Sherry Fontaine, suffered a broken rib.

"She said she was part of a crowd behind a barrier on a street next to a mill parking lot when the stack fell hundreds of feet away."

Thankfully nobody got seriously hurt or killed.

I remember reading an article about an implosion contractor that had a contract to demolish a big chimney. They built a huge pile of dirt to cushion the impact. It rained for a couple od days prior to the implosion so the dirt became mud. When the stack hit the mudpile it created a huge mud wave that hit the houses closeset to the jobsite. One hunk of mud travelled several blocks and struck a postman in the chest killing him instantly. He wasn't even there to watch the implosion, he was deliverying mail.

Very lucky, seems weird they were right there at the time.

I meant the workers, they seemed pretty close to the stacks.
