Demolition Blasts Scheduled for I-10 Bridge
The new I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay will encounter slow and stopped traffic on Friday, Sept. 14 while a demolition crew demolishes two piers on the old eastbound bridge.
Demolition will occur sometime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. .
Bay-area residents will likely hear the blasts, which are not expected to pose any danger to their homes. Once the “all clear” is given, traffic will be released to flow as usual.
The reconstruction of the I-10 bridges is being completed by the design-build team of contractors Tidewater Skanska of Virginia Beach, Va.; Flatiron Constructors of Longmont, Colo.; and design firm PB Americas, Inc., of Tampa. The bridge is scheduled for completion by November 2007.
