Mayor wants to implode hotel
Jackson, Mississippi Mayor Frank Melton said he wants to implode the KingEdwardHotel in February or March.
Melton said he can get around state and federal laws that protect the historic structure by issuing an emergency order of demolition -- citing environmental risks.
The city’s redevelopment authority owns the building.
The hotel is under contract with investors, including Saints football star Deuce McAllister, to renovate the building.
