Circuit Court Judge David Melesco ruled against an injunction sought by the Danville Historical Society to stop the demolition of the Long Mill Complex.
The society filed the injunction this week because it claims to still own a portion of the 28-acre property including the northern wall of the complex’s Sales and Yarn Mill Building, which is not slated for demolition until September.
Meleseco said it would be inappropriate to halt the demolition outright since the historical society has no claim over the property’s remaining 11 buildings. He said he would rule on the society’s ownership claim at a later date.
