It was a historic day in the Oak Park Community in Sacramento, CA. People rallied screaming 'tear it down'. They're referring to the demolition of two troublesome neighborhood convenience stores.

Crowds cheered and applauded as bulldozers knocked down the Washington and Days Markets, 2 liquor stores that over the years had become major magnets of crime, drug dealing, and other criminal activity.

It's all a part of a community revitalization project to make way for affordable single family homes. In light of many complaints, there had been widespread community support for the redevelopment and reuse of these properties.

Despite the rainy forecast, you could feel the excitement in the air as the neighborhood gathered and marched outpouring their support of the project - a true testament to the commitment of the Oak Park community as a whole

Come this time next year, Oak Park will welcome four brand new families. The community used eminent domain to take control of these properties.
