I would like to hear more about this one. It would be interesting to see what machine he was using to move a 60' beam on the 2nd story.

I don't believe you can move a 60' concrete beam with a bobcat

Unless it's a very heavy load bearing building, I agree. A building that would have any span of 60' would have to be industrial also. It will be interesting to see who the Contractor is more than anything.
There are simple preventatives measures to assure against such tragic accidents as this one. Downsizing the material is the best prevention whereas it can be handled appropriately with the properly matched equipment.

I guess that is why I am asking. Just seems odd to be moving such a large piece on the 2nd floor.

Hey Guys,
The company was Bedroc Contracting, a big demolition outfit. From what I understand, it was a 300 or better excavator. The building was an old jail. I am thinking it may have been a prefab concrete beam, a steel beam encased it concrete, or a curb wall of some sort.
