Default Grand Central Station demolition begins

Okay not the one in New York! The Demolition at Grand Central Station on Goodlette-Frank Road in Naples, FL, will begin Wednesday at 9 a.m., making way for the future home of the Antaramian Development Group’s Renaissance Village.

The first phase of demolition on the 22-acre property across from Bayfront began last December, and the second phase beginning Dec. 13 will eliminate the remaining 80,000 square feet, according to Teresa Morgenstern, spokeswoman for the Antaramian Development Group.

While crews are tearing down the walls at one end of the building, the City of Naples Fire District will be using the other side for specialized training.

Firefighters will conduct simulated fire and smoke drills, search and rescue drills, aerial operations which involve removing victims from the roof, and ventilation techniques involving the windows and roof, according City of Naples Fire District Lt. Don DeTesso.

Renaissance Village, which is affiliated with Naples Bay Resort, will include a mix of residences, a marina, hotel accommodations, dining and shopping. The Antaramian Development Group purchased the property from Naples Community Hospital.
