Demolition of fire-damaged Charlie's begins
Crews began today what is expected to be a five-day process to demolish the former Charlie’s Pizza Plus, in New York Mills, which was severely damaged by fire in April.
United Contractors of Utica were hired to do the job by Charlie’s owner Charles DiGristina, according to Phil Cittadino of United Contractors. Cittadino said the job should take about five days to complete.
The burned-out shell of the restaurant, blackened and boarded up, has stood at the corner of Henderson and Clinton streets for seven months since the April 17 fire, which was ruled arson by Oneida County sheriff’s investigators. DiGristina said last week he was delayed in tearing down the building because of instructions from his insurance company, which has been investigating DiGristina's claim since the fire.
I heard they had some great food
