Default Crews raze storm-damaged hotel in Satellite Beach

Demolition crews from Pece of Mind Demolition tore away at the Ramada Inn Oceanfront Resort Hotel on State Road A1A in Satellite Beach on Tuesday. The hotel has been closed since it sustained heavy damage during the 2004 hurricane season.

Three 96-foot-high condo towers are planned at the Ramada site. The condos will have a total of 108 units.

In exchange for permission to exceed the city's 65-foot height limitation, the developer gave the city two acres of beachfront property, which allows Satellite Beach to control 40 percent of its oceanfront.

The developer also agreed to improve beach access and add landscaping.
