This one doesn't sound like much fun. The 4" remaining will look pretty ugly and be weakened from the chipping. I would vote for full depth removal and pour back with only 1200 sqft.

Obviously my opinion isn't worth a darn if you have special site conditions, i.e. contamination, difficult location, war zone, lunar surface, etc.
