Trucker Killed in Demolition Yard
A Des Moines, IA trucker has been killed at a demolition yard after a fellow trucker accidentally backed over him.
Polk County sheriff's officials say William Thomas Rogers was hit Tuesday while standing in the yard at DeCarlo Demolition. Officials say at least six dump trucks and two loaders were in the yard moving dirt while Rogers stood nearby talking on his cell phone.
Rogers and the driver of the truck both worked for Seibert Trucking of Des Moines.
Witnesses told authorities the back-up alarms on all the trucks were functioning, and that they tried to warn Rogers and the driver as the truck was backing up.
Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.
